Job Title
Analog IC Design Manager
Role Summary
The Analog IC Design Manager leads a multidisciplinary analog and mixed-signal design team responsible for high-speed optical communication ICs, including transimpedance amplifiers and laser drivers. The role owns the new product introduction (NPI) lifecycle from product definition through tape-out, qualification, and volume production.
Works across Stansted and global sites to deliver high-performance IC solutions that meet schedule, cost, and performance targets for data-center and telecom applications.
Experience Level
Senior β requires extensive experience: the posting specifies 10+ years in semiconductor analog design and 5+ years in leadership or engineering management.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include technical leadership, programme execution, and cross-functional alignment.
- Manage and develop a team of analog circuit designers and layout engineers, including recruitment and performance management.
- Own end-to-end NPI across multiple high-speed IC programmes from concept through production ramp.
- Translate product and system requirements into executable analog design plans meeting schedule, cost, and performance targets.
- Drive execution across concurrent programmes: scheduling, resource planning, and risk mitigation.
- Lead pre-tape-out reviews and ensure layout verification and production readiness.
- Oversee post-silicon bring-up, silicon correlation, and performance optimisation to improve first-pass success.
- Coordinate with Product, Applications, Test, Validation, Reliability, and Marketing to align on customer and system requirements.
- Prepare and present technical updates and programme status to senior leadership, highlighting risks and milestones.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, leadership experience, and programme execution capabilities.
- Minimum 10+ years' experience in semiconductor analog design.
- Minimum 5+ years' experience in a leadership or engineering management role.
- Hands-on experience in analog circuit design, mixed-signal integration, simulation, and IC verification.
- Proven experience leading NPI programmes in semiconductor environments and managing multiple concurrent projects under schedule and resource constraints.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across cross-functional engineering organisations.
- Ability to run design reviews, drive technical decisions, and improve first-pass silicon outcomes.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience in optical communication IC design (laser drivers, TIAs) and high-speed IC development.
- Familiarity with semiconductor design tools, advanced analog simulation environments, and SAP.
- Exposure to semiconductor device physics, analog optimisation techniques, and engineering standards or governance frameworks.
- Project or programme management certification (e.g., PMP) preferred.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or a related technical discipline is required. A Master's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline is preferred. Project/programme management certification (e.g., PMP) is listed as preferred.
