Job Title
Analog and Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and verify analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits and IP for ASIC products. Work on transistor-level and behavioral modeling, physical layout oversight, lab characterization and production test development with cross-functional analog, digital and package teams.
Typical work includes architecture selection, circuit implementation and optimization to meet performance, power and cost targets for power/high-voltage and precision analog blocks.
Experience Level
Senior. Experience guidance in the posting: Bachelor's with 8+ years, Master's with 6+ years, or PhD with 3+ years of related experience.
Responsibilities
Primary technical and project responsibilities include:
- Design analog blocks and subsystems at transistor and behavioral levels using SPICE and modeling tools.
- Implement and optimize circuit architectures to meet performance, power and cost goals.
- Lead or contribute as an individual contributor on cross-functional design projects with analog and digital engineers.
- Oversee custom physical layout and apply analog/high-voltage layout techniques.
- Define internal chip interfaces and specify PCB components used with the ICs.
- Review package pinout/ballout with package layout engineers and update routing as needed.
- Design or review test-PCB schematics and perform lab characterization and debugging of silicon.
- Work with ATE teams to develop production tests and support experimental verification.
- Document circuit operation and performance; perform pre- and post-layout verification including corner, Monte Carlo, aging and over-voltage analyses.
- Design critical analog IP (opamps, comparators, bandgaps, ADCs/DACs, sensors, LDOs, DC-DC converters, battery chargers, etc.).
Requirements
Must-have skills and competencies; nice-to-have items noted separately.
-
Must-have: Strong analog design skills and deep knowledge of CMOS device behavior.
-
Must-have: Experience with Cadence design flow (Analog Artist) and Cadence Virtuoso layout tools; verification and extraction experience.
-
Must-have: Practical experience running circuit simulations, layout design, post-layout verification and extraction.
-
Must-have: Lab characterization experience and ability to debug silicon; experience supporting ATE.
-
Must-have: Ability to optimize trade-offs among power, area and performance; strong written and verbal communication; effective team collaboration.
-
Nice-to-have: Knowledge of switched power supplies, high-voltage/BCD technologies and power circuitry; bench testing for post-silicon evaluation.
Education Requirements
The posting specifies degree and experience combinations: Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of related experience; Master's degree with 6+ years; or PhD with 3+ years of related experience.
